Start with the room and the work around it.
New drywall gives a room its surfaces, but the work starts with what is behind them. Share whether you are renovating an existing room, closing an opening or finishing a space that is already framed. The condition of the framing, access and the stage of other work affect what can happen next.
Petra offers residential drywall installation for walls and ceilings. Before work is priced, the scope should identify which surfaces are included, which existing surfaces stay, and who handles finishing, priming and painting. Installation alone and a finished, painted room are different proposals.
Coordinate before the walls close.
Electrical, plumbing and other work inside a wall needs to be coordinated before it is covered. Bring the room plans and tell us about fixtures, vents and any openings that need to remain accessible. Board type and assembly details should suit the location and applicable project requirements.
If you are adding a custom ceiling, recessed lighting or a TV feature wall, discuss those details early. They can change the layout, edges and access points, so they belong in the drawing and scope rather than becoming changes after the boards are in place.
Decide how the surface will look.
Board installation is followed by joint treatment and finishing. A surface intended for texture can need different preparation from one painted smooth under strong window light. Agree on the intended appearance before comparing estimates.
We also offer drywall finishing and interior painting. Ask for these stages to be listed separately so you can see what is included and how they will be coordinated. Existing surfaces may need additional preparation where new work meets old.
What to send for an estimate.
A few wide photos and approximate dimensions are a useful starting point. Include the ceiling height and any areas that are hard to reach. Photos help start the conversation; the condition and final scope may still need an on-site review.
- Rooms and surfaces to be covered
- Current framing or demolition stage
- Openings, fixtures and access requirements
- Smooth or textured finish, and whether painting is included
- Occupied-room protection, material access and cleanup
Questions worth asking.
Can I ask for installation and finishing together?
Yes. Describe the whole project and whether you also want painting. Each stage should be included clearly in the written scope.
Do you install drywall on ceilings as well as walls?
Yes. Tell us the ceiling height, access and whether you want a flat ceiling or a decorative detail.
Can you price the job from photos?
Photos and dimensions help us understand the request. Final pricing depends on the agreed scope and any conditions that need to be checked in person.
